SHREDITOR
Role Description
As a Shreditor, you will be an integral part of our small, high-impact team, owning the technical aspects of video production. Part cinematographer, part editor, your responsibilities will include lighting sets of various sizes, shooting in different styles and locations, and editing projects. You will also contribute to concept development, project iterations, and creative problem-solving. This is a full-time, on-site role in Chicago, with occasional ability to work from home.
Cinematography and Camera Operation:
Proficient in lighting for on-site interviews, tabletop shoots in studio, and commercial shoots in various styles such as documentary, food and beverage, corporate, and more.
Knowledge of different types of lighting scenarios and equipment.
Basic knowledge of audio systems, such as shotgun microphones and lavaliers for capturing basic interview audio, natural sound, etc.
Comfortable working with a gaffer to execute lighting plans on set.
Familiarity with Canon C300 mkiii or comparable cameras, and possession of a Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot License is a plus.
Will be in charge of managing all gear.
Workflow:
Proficient in offloading media using software such as Shotput Pro, and creating workflow best practices and systems for all areas of video production.
Ability to create shotlists and gearlists while working with the Director and Producer on timing and production estimates.
Familiarity with Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems and cloud backup systems, such as Backblaze, is a plus.
Editing:
Proficient in the Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator a plus) with experience in editing documentary style, hype and sizzle reels, commercials, food and beverage content, and more.
Strong sense of color correction and audio finishing.
Collaborate with Producers on schedules for editing and have a good understanding of time management for different project lengths.
Ability to edit projects of varying lengths, from 30-second sizzle reels to 5-minute documentary pieces, and jump into edits as needed.
Motion Graphics proficiency is a huge plus.
Skills for Success in this Role
4+ years of professional experience in production and post-production.
Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, time management, and multitasking skills.
Great sense of how cinematography & production translates to the edit and final piece.
Ability to receive internal and client feedback professionally and respond positively and proactively.
Interest in working on a small creative team, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively depending on project needs.
Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability to shifting timelines/priorities/needs, and ability to find constructive solutions as a team player.
Degree in Television, Film, or Media Production, or equivalent industry experience.
Knowledge and passion for Food & Beverage is a plus.
