ASSOCIATE PRODUCER & PROJECT MANAGER

 
 

Role Description

Skalawag Productions is a Video Strategy & Production Studio that helps clients in the food & beverage spaces create content holistically, regularly, and at an extremely high quality. We are a skilled, small, but high impact creative team that provides video content strategy and production capabilities to the brands and agencies we work with. Working with us means solving clients’ creative problems and accomplishing big goals. 

As an Associate Producer and Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all our projects run smoothly and efficiently. You will be the master of all the details, keeping the trains running on time and amplifying the voice of Skalawag through all mediums. From creating production schedules to managing marketing and brand development, you will be involved in every aspect of our work.

Your creativity, resourcefulness, and ability to think on your feet will be critical in this role. You will be responsible for overseeing projects from concept development to delivery, and you will work closely with our talented team to ensure that every project is delivered on time and on budget.

This is a full-time, on-site role in Chicago, with occasional ability to work from home.

Associate Producer: 

  • Prepare for shoots by coordinating with contractors and clients and booking logistics.

  • Solve problems that arise during shoots and ensure everything runs smoothly on set.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and nurture strong relationships with freelancers and individuals within the industry.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to consolidate and clearly explain feedback from clients or stakeholders to our internal editing team. Skilled in managing feedback effectively, ensuring that it is implemented efficiently and within project timelines.

  • Ability to be flexible with role on and off set, responsibilities don’t always fit within the Associate Producer box 

  • Desire to grow in production abilities from scheduling shoots, interviewing, directing camera, scriptwriting and post-production supervision 


Project Management:

  • Responsible for organizing and managing multiple project through various stages of production in software systems including Asana, Slack, Wipster, Google Drive, and DropBox

  • Identify potential roadblocks related to resources and timelines

  • Prep team and client meeting documents, take meeting notes, and help create decks and other supporting documents

  • Ability to create and manage all pre-production and post-production schedules for internal team members and external clients. 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Creative Development:

  • Assist on strategy decks, video proposals, and other communications materials

  • Collaborate to develop smart concepts and write copy for videos/motion graphics

  • Generate ideas for marketing campaigns and sales materials to enhance the company’s brand 

  • Concept ideas and materials for email campaigns and social media 

  • Identify and recommend new and innovative creative ideas to support client’s strategic plans

  • Passionate about staying up-to-date with social media trends and emerging technologies.

Skills for Success in this Role 

  • 2+ years of professional experience in production and post-production.

  • Extremely organized, enjoy creating organizational processes and managing details of a project.

  • Outstanding attention to detail, ability to prioritize, time management and multitasking

  • Ability to adapt to changing timelines, priorities, and needs

  • Strong writing and editing skills, able to turn ambiguous direction into crisp, clear communications and deliverables

  • Ability to receive internal and client feedback professionally and respond positively and proactively.

  • Interest in working on a small creative team, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively depending on project needs.

  • Degree in Television, Film, or Media Production, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Knowledge and passion for Food & Beverage is a plus. 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and interest in working on a small creative team

  • A good voice for storytelling, how a story is crafted and how it can impact an audience 

  • Social media savvy and email marketing experience
